Adoption Plans

Hope Adoptions is dedicated to walking you through this part of your life with open arms.

  1. What is an adoption plan you may ask?                                                  This is when the birth mother and father (if still involved) decides which family will adopt and raise their child. The plans that we have in place completely revolve around how much contact the mother wants as well as how much information she's willing to share with the family. There are three main adoption plans to choose from which include, open adoption, semi-open adoption, and closed adoption.
  2. Open Adoption                                                                                                  When looking at adoption plans, the most common would have to be open adoption. Open adoption is an agreement made between you and the birth mother to have on-going contact with each other during the child's life. In this type of adoption, you must be willing to share personal information such as mailing addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses.
  3. Semi-Open Adoption                                                                                Semi-Open Adoptions are also another common plan choice. With Semi-Open Adoption, all contact between the birth parents and the adoptive parents will be handled by a third party, such as Hope Adoptions. Communication looks like cards, letters, and other similar forms of communication that is then forwarded to the other party by Hope Adoptions. Phone calls and video chats are also available but must be scheduled accordingly through Hope Adoptions.
  4. Closed Adoption                                                                                                If the birth mother would rather remain anonymous, then often times they will choose Closed Adoption. If this plan has been chosen, then the birth mother and adoptive parents will not have contact through out the child's life. While this option is not our most popular, it's sometimes the best case scenario for everyone involved!

Adoption Types

Open Adoption

This means that there is ongoing contact with you and your child, as well as the adoptive family which allows you to build a relationship with both.

Semi-Open Adoption

With this option, there would be contact through Hope Adoptions while protecting your privacy but allowing you to maintain a connection.

Closed Adoption

With a Closed Adoption, there would be no contact between you or the child. Sometimes this helps close a chapter of your life if you're wanting to move forward!
